Are You Looking for a Job?
If so, one of the first things you'll need to do is to write a resume. That may seem like one of the most daunting tasks ever. It is also one of the most important things you must do if you hope to get the interview. I can still recall way-back-when, I was in my early twenties and realized that a job I had taken was not working out. It was a sales job at a company my friend said he was a partner in, but, well, he really wasn't. He made it appear so incredibly good that it was hard for me to turn it down. I mean he had the Mercedes, the nice house, the toys. Does smoke and mirrors mean anything? I should have asked more questions but I was of the mindset that I could do anything! Maybe I should have stayed, but the timing wasn't right. Anyway, I then had to write my own resume. Looking back on it now, I made it so difficult on myself. It's really not that hard. Take your time, do your homework, it will pay off. Think of it as your ticket to get in the door to meet the decision maker. The bottom line is, that's all you really want. That is to get your chance to say hello in person, get a sense of chemistry and move forward from there. There are so many resources available on the internet that I didn't have at that time. Some you'll have to pay for, others are free. The reason I put up this site is that someone I met recently encouraged me to do so to help those of you that are just like I was way-back-when. I needed help. Fortunately I had a good friend that spent time with me to put one together. I was lucky. Now I'm trying to give back for all the times I've received help. As time permits I'll post additional resources here. |
